BSc (Hons) Computing

The curriculum has been designed to equip students with the modern skill set needed to launch a confident and well-prepared career in the computing sector.

Modules take a hands-on approach, developing transferable, real-world skills across a broad range of disciplines including coding, database and web document creation, data analysis, cloud computing, IT project management, systems analysis, and professional soft skills. The programme offers flexible study durations, with students having between 3 to 9 years to complete the course. Most students aim to finish their studies within 3 to 6 years, allowing for a pace of learning that suits individual circumstances and commitments.

Year 1 (Level 4) modules
  • Introduction to Academic Skills and Professional Development (Core)
  • Introduction to Operating Systems & Security (Core)
  • Introduction to Databases (Core)
  • Introduction to Programming (Core)
  • Introduction to Web Authoring (Core)
  • Introduction to Networking (Core)
  • Productivity & Collaboration Tools (Only available for April 2026 Online learning intake)
Year 2 (Level 5) modules 
  • Human Computer Interaction (Core)
  • Data Analytics and Visualisation (Core)
  • IT Project Management (Core)
  • Systems Analysis and Design (Core)
  • Then choose either:
    Technical route
  • Advanced Databases (Elective)
  • Object Oriented Programming (Elective)
    or
    Information Systems route
  • Digital Business (Elective)
  • Ethics, Quality and Sustainability in Technological Environments (Elective)
Year 3 (Level 6) modules

Web Application Development is available exclusively to students who completed the Technical option set at Level 5. All other students will undertake Technology Entrepreneurship.

Please note that not all modules may be available at every study centre. Where necessary, timetables will be coordinated to accommodate students who need to attend an alternative study centre or participate in live online classes.
