The Foundation Year (Fundamentals of Construction)

Year 2 (Level 5) modules (Architectural Science and Building Engineering Services)

Discover how buildings are engineered to create comfortable, functional environments for the people who use them. This module introduces you to the methods and systems behind effective thermal, visual, and acoustic design exploring how buildings are properly heated, cooled, illuminated, and acoustically managed.

You’ll study the core principles that underpin building engineering services, gaining a practical understanding of how structures are supplied with water, gas, and electricity and how waste and refuse are efficiently removed.

Year 3 (Level 6) modules (Professional Skills and Digital Technologies)

On this module, you’ll be introduced to the role of technology and data within the sustainable built environment. You will be introduced to the latest technologies and processes commonly used in practice.

You’ll learn to recognise the role of technology in your studies, your future career and to enable your development as a professional.

Construction Industry Practice

Step into the world of construction professionals and discover where your career fits within the built environment. This module gives you a clear picture of how the industry is structured from the key professions and roles that drive it, to how construction teams are formed, work is tendered, and health and safety standards are upheld.

You’ll have the opportunity to identify your own future path within the industry and take practical steps to develop the employability skills needed to get there.
